This weekend was great, just what Tay and I needed. Friday we went out with John (white Tiger) and Amanda. We had some desert at Watercourse. Saturday we hung out at the pool with Randy and Sarah. We ate watermelon and jumped in the pool when we were too hot. If you are wondering did I get burt.. of course! But not really bad, just missed some spots with the sunscreen. Who knew relaxing in the sun would take so much out of you! Tay and I were beat for the rest of the night but not enough to not go get icecream with Morgan and Crysta! HA! Sunday we went with Morgan and Crysta to the Denver Swap Meet! WOW.. now that some good people watching! It reminded me of the ourdoor market in Thialand and the weather was about the same too! SOOO HOT!
Just a good weekend fun in the sun and good company to match!

May Birthdays

Sorry I'm late with the birthdays for May. There are two special guys in my life that have birthdays in May: My dad and Biff (Deacon to most).
Some of my fondest memory's with my dad are outdoors. I remember my dad walking with me in the backyard and pointing out all the plants to me. We would sit in the backyard in Idaho and watch the sunset together, then dad would point out where Venus was in the sky. I remember one of my only trips with my father was to Yellowstone (Me, Curtis and Dad). Thats the picture of me and dad outdoors at the picnic table. What a funny trip that was. All the time we drove to Yellowstone we listened to The Lettermans. We ended up not bringing spoons and eating cereal with forks. Curtis and I got our first look at Old Faithful Geyser.
As I get older I realize how similar I am to my father. We both enjoy the outdoors and we are adventurous spirits (thats why we had to marry people that could keep us grounded.) Although we managed to get our spouses to move with us to pursue academic careers. We are dreamers that are never content for long. We have a love for nature, education and art. I'm not sure if these are learned behaviors or inherit traits but I know I got them from my dad. I Love you Dad and know you have many more birthdays to come!
Biff is a year old in May. I feel like I've played such an active role in preparing for his arrival. I helped Sophia paint his nursery and made his baby blanket. Got toy and cloths and throw Sophia a friends baby shower. Every time I see him my heart sings! He is growing up to be such as fun, happy baby. He defiantly has a special place in my heart! I love my little Biff and can't wait to see all the wonderful things he will do with his life.
Happy Birthday Dad and Biff!
Summers Here!!

Summer has arrived and we are very excited! This is our first summer in Denver. We are hoping to get some camping in soon. The weather here is great. It's not as hot as Utah and there is a lot more rain. This is going to be a good summer, I can tell.

Life after Miscarriage
Most of you didn't know that I was 2 months pregnant. Unfortunately, yesterday we had our first exam at 8 weeks and the baby did not have a heart beat. We were told that it had grown to 7 1/2 weeks and that something had stopped its growth.
The beginning:
We were very surprised on April 26th when we learned I was pregnant. We did not plan the pregnancy but we were excited. The estimated day of birth was January 2, 2009. We planned on telling our family when we went home for Marks graduation.
The only family member I told was my mother because during my pregnancy I was lonely and wanted a pregnancy "mentor". I knew something was wrong when at 6 weeks I was not getting sick. Most of you know that I always get sick. I can't even take 2 birth control pills because it makes me very sick. Then this last weekend I stopped craving hot dogs (which I had been craving since I got prego and HAD to eat at least 1 a day.) I also started having miscarriage dreams that week too.
The end:
After going to the doctors they prescribed me some pills that would induce the miscarriage. What they failed to tell me that is was like going into labor but having ZERO time in between contractions. For 3 hours I was in the most pain I had ever been in. I was also drugged up on 2 vicodins that didn't help at all (just made me out of it). My hands became paralyzed and my feet too. Finally it passed and slowly the contractions stopped. I could not have gone through it with out Taylors help. He talked to me and helped me breath through the contractions and whipped my face with a cold towel and held me when all I could do was lay on the floor in pain.
Dealing with the feelings:
I have defiantly been knocked down to my knees and humbled by this experience. The hardest thing for me to think about is seeing the ultrasound with the baby and no heart beat, then looking over and seeing taylor in tears. It was hard learning I was pregnant but we took on the challenge and started to mentally prepare ourselves to be parents. It's difficult because just as fast as we learned we were going to have a baby we learned we were not. However, I am grateful that it didn't go on longer because I know of women who miscarry 14-16 weeks. Mother was a wonderful mentor and comforted me through out my pregnancy and miscarriage. I'm so glad I have a mom who is so nurturing that she can comfort me miles away from home.
Those who knew about this have asked if we will try again. I feel it is too early to say. Right now I know that my body has been through soooo much these past 2 months and I need to focus on healing my self mentally and physically.
I decided to write about this because I think it will help me tell my story and then move on from the story. It's one of the first steps to healing.
One thing we did learn from this is, Taylor and I have always been on the fence about having a child, I think now if we are given the chance to carry to full term we would be honored to be parents.

My garden and yard

The garden.......... it consists of: tomatoes (3 bushes), beans, peas, zucchini, squash, cucumbers and artichokes (Taylor wanted to see if he could grow it). I can't wait to make zucchini bread this summer.
Also here are some pics of Tay and the dogs hanging out in the front yard on the weekend. Taylor bought some ice cream from a funny little hispanic guy who had an old school push ice cream cooler with a little bell on it. The dogs love to sit under the pine tree and stare at squirrels. Aspen almost caught one that day. I'm glad the dogs chase them because the squirrels ate the bulbs I planted!
First BBQ of the year

Yesterday we had our first BBQ of the year, a house warming party!
Some of our lovely friends showed up: Nick, Lindsay, Drummer Matt and Sarah, John and Amanda and Roger. We used our new Fire pit/table and chairs Taylor mom bought us (a great house warming present!) The weather was awesome and we had HOT DOGS! It was a good day all around.

My room and Kitchen

For the last month I've been working on the upper level of the house. I've painted the living room, hallway, kitchen (which was an awful peach but now a soft gray) and my bedroom. Tay and I bought a new couch for the living room (doesn't come till June 23rd) and I finally found a dining table set for the kitchen today. So I'm posting some pics of the kitchen and my room. More to come of the rest of the house when it's complete. Enjoy.....
