Helpful hints for new parents

My favorite is shopping with baby and washing baby... what's yours?

Bought the crib

After many sleepless nights of internet research I finally purchased a crib! I was looking for a modern, simple looking crib with white and wood.

I originally wanted this crib from babies R Us, but it was continually sold out!
So I was deciding from these three...
BabyMiro Mercer Crib- can get it just about anywhere online. I liked the storage room and the Simple design with contrasting wood, but wasn't sold of the boxy look.

Silver Lake Crib-from Target. Again I liked the storage units, contrast colors and thin bars, but it has not gotten very good reviews and ordering from Target can be a pain.

Baby Mod Crib- Walmart. I liked the modern looking legs, thinner bars and contrasting colors, but it doesn't have a storage unit and it's from Walmart.

So which one did I choose? .........
The baby Mod crib from Walmart. The reviews were really good on this one and it had the modern look I was going for. I will just make storage somewhere else. It also came with free shipping if you had it sent to a local store to pick it up. We have a Walmart just down the road (doesn't everyone?) that it's being delivered to. Nice, then I won't have to worry about being home when it's delivered. I can't wait till it arrives!

Which one do you like?

A special thank you to the Williams for buying our crib! I appreciate all you do for the family!

Shambhala Day

We didn't have school last Wednesday because of Shambhala Day. It's the Shambhala Buddhist New Year, the year of the OX!
The Shambhala Meditation Center of Boulder wrote this about the year of the Ox:
The year of the Ox is one in which success will escape without a sustained, mindful effort. The sort of problems that are encountered in the year of the Ox tend to be home front problems that seem to be never ending. The Ox year needs discipline and it is not the time for unruly behaviour or taking short cuts. In this year success is achieved solely through hard work- With a new baby coming, full-time school and work it sounds like a true statement to me!

Elliott will be born under the year of the Ox. This is a list of characteristics about people born under the year of the Ox..
The Ox, or the Buffalo sign symbolizes prosperity through fortitude and hard work. Those born under the influence of the Ox or Buffalo are fortunate to be stable and persevering. The typical Ox is a tolerant person with strong character. Not many people could equal the resolution and fearlessness that the Ox exhibits when deciding to accomplish a task. Ox people work hard without complaints at work or at home. They know that they will succeed through hard work and sustained efforts, and do not believe in get-rich-quick schemes.
Well I guess it's time to hike up those pants and roll up those sleeves!

24 week Picture

Here you are 24 weeks only 16 more to go!

Biting off more then I can paint....

I think because of my desire for adventure and doing something different I got this great idea to paint my dark brown hallway orange.

I painted it this not-so-lovely looking yellow orange

and then made the right choice of a spice orange.

Next time I get the genius idea to paint when I'm 6 months pregnant I'm calling you to stop me or you could just take me on a nice beach vacation instead.

Simple Pleasures

I decided after a long night of stomach problems on Friday night, not to go into work the next day. Instead I relished in the simple pleasures of the weekend.

First, I sat in bed with no to-do list, work and homework, which is very rare in my life.

I love taking long showers with the window open and letting the cool air come in. It's the perfect combination of warm and cold.

Next I cuddled with my pets, Joey and I sat in my bed for awhile.

I did my toe nails because I'm not sure how much longer I will be able to reach them!

I then decided to finish the robot lamp by adding the cool fabric I got for the lamp shade. I think it turned out pretty good for a first time project.

I always enjoy Taylor making me dinner, he made his mothers awesome homemade spaghetti sauce (the best!)

we watched some movies and ate girl scout cookies..samosas....yum!

and best of all I got to spend some quality time with my troll-of-a-husband.

What a great saturday!
